Sankat Mochan temple is one of the sacred wats of Varanasi. It is located in south east Varanasi, near the Banaras Hindu University. It is dedicated to the Hindu God, Hanuman. The term "Sankat Mochan" indicates one who allows in removing sufferings i.e. Expert Hanuman. Tulsidas, the author of the well-known Hindu amazing Ramacharitamanasa, recognized the Sankat Mochan temple. According to Hindu belief, one who visits the Sankat Mochan temple continually, his wishes get pleased.
