Christmas Celebration

Christmas was celebrated with traditional fanfare on Wednesday. People gathered at the Cathedral and churches at different places to offer prayers.Festive spirit started gripping the city from midnight on December 24. Mass prayers, carol singing and other rituals were observed to celebrate birthday of Jesus Christ at midnight.On Wednesday morning, people started thronging churches in the city and exchanged greetings with each other and offered sweets, cakes and Christmas goodies to friends and relatives.The fair organized to mark the festivity at St Mary's Cathedral in Cantonment attracted a number of visitors on Wednesday. The Cantonment area remained abuzz with visitors that offered prayers at St Mary's Cathedral and enjoyed the fair and special decoration and lighting at the Church that remained the center of attraction. A three-day festivity, starting from Christmas, is organized at St Mary's Cathedral in Cantonment. The fair witnesses special decoration of the church with lighting and installation of number of stalls that attracts locals as well as outsiders to the venue.
